Noah has discovered mobility... Hooray, Yippie, Wahoo I think... Mr. Independent is now asleep on his big boy bed (aka mattress on the floor), a decision made based on his attempts to clamber out of his crib. He has been busy scooting around the condo exploring everything he can get his hands on. One moment alone is sure to equal either a big mess, a goose-egg, or both. Yesterday after I put Noah down for his nap he awoke and decided to climb the changing table (a goose-egg moment). No wonder I can't sleep! I'm on edge wondering what's next. I curled up next to his bed tonight and wrapped my arms around him. What peace to know that he is safe in my arms. For one moment I am a good mother, but don't let me close my eyes, or all hell could break loose again.

Noah's hearing is returning after several months of silence. We had Noah scheduled for an ear tube surgery several months ago, but instead we listened to a doctor at Primary Children's, who told us to wait six weeks and have him reevaluated. Dr. Muntz didn't mention that Noah was deaf (due to the water pressure in his ears). Upon returning after six weeks the audiologist explained that Noah could not hear "speech frequencies" and said that most likely he hasn't heard a single word since his ear infection in March:( I was livid, if I had any idea I would NOT have waited. Primary Children's set up a surgery date in August, but we decided that it was more important to have it done quickly, and set up a surgery date in American Fork.
Last Thursday we drove to the American Fork hospital for Noah's surgery. They took away my smiling boy and 30 later handed me a very cranky baby. As I was trying to comfort Noah, Jacob said his name and startled the poor little guy. He jumped and my heart jumped too...he heard his name!!! YAY!
After a long nap Noah was back to his charming self. We went out for Pizza that night, and Noah giggled and giggled as he conversed with his dad. I am so grateful for modern medicine. We will have Noah's hearing tested soon, but I have no doubt that it is returning.
Since then Noah has regained a sense of balance. He is constantly pulling himself up on the furniture and cruising around the house.
